Permanent makeup, also known as semi-permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing, is a form of micro-pigmentation that deposits pigment into the upper layers of the skin. At Bl-inked PMU Clinic in Wickford, Essex, results typically last between 1 and 3 years depending on the treatment, your skin type, lifestyle and aftercare. We use high-quality topical numbing creams throughout your appointment to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible. Most people describe the sensation as a light scratching or pressure. Pain tolerance varies from person to person, but we will always work at your pace and ensure you feel completely at ease throughout your visit to our Wickford studio.
Prior to your permanent makeup appointment, we recommend avoiding alcohol for 24 hours beforehand, avoiding blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin) where medically safe to do so, and refraining from retinol-based skincare products in the area being treated for at least a week. You should also avoid excessive sun exposure and sunbeds. Full pre-care instructions will be sent to you upon booking so you arrive perfectly prepared for your treatment.
Most permanent makeup treatments require an initial session followed by a perfecting top-up appointment approximately 6–8 weeks later. This allows us to assess how your skin has healed and make any necessary refinements to ensure your results are absolutely perfect. Some clients with very oily skin or particular skin types may benefit from an additional session. All of this will be discussed during your consultation at our Wickford studio.
